St Mary of Bethany

Biographical

Mary was the sister of Martha and Lazarus. The siblings lived at Bethany, outside of Jerusalem, and were honoured with the friendship of Jesus, after they generously offered him hospitality. Mary, in particular, listened to the words of Jesus with earnestness. She had previously been identified with Mary Magdalen due to St Gregory the Great's views, but this has been discredited.
