Adolf Schiele
(1850–1905)

Biographical

Promoted to station master in Tulln in 1887, Adolf provided his family with a comfortable life through his work on the railway, following in his father’s footsteps. The family’s frequent relocations, a result of Adolf’s profession, meant that his children were born in different towns. However, by the 1890s, his health—long affected by syphilis—began to fail rapidly, and instances of professional misconduct became more frequent. His death brought not only grief, but also financial strain to the family.
