| A ceramic milk jug from a coffee set made in Sesto Fiorentino, a town renowned for its long tradition in Italian ceramics. The jug has a classic, rounded silhouette with a broad base that tapers gently into a narrower neck, before flaring into a wide spout. The handle is ornate, featuring a scroll-like design and white glaze, with delicate contours that reflect the craftsmanship typical of Italian pottery. The surface of the jug is highly reflective and finished in a lustrous metallic gold glaze, giving it a rich, opulent appearance. Prominently featured on one side is a relief floral motif: a detailed rose in soft pink and white tones, accompanied by green leaves and a rosebud. The floral design is in relief, and is hand-moulded and applied separately before glazing. This adds depth and a tactile element to the jug. The base of the jug is ringed with a decorative, scalloped trim in white, creating contrast against the gold body. The Arte della Ceramica workshop was known for combining traditional Florentine styles with a refined aesthetic. |
