Rubinstein (1835-81)[E6T] Other names: Nikolay Grigor'yevich Rubinshteyn[E6T] Biographical Russian pianist, conductor, and teacher.[E6T] Studied piano with Kullak and harmony and counterpoint with Dehn, and later toured Russia as a child virtuoso.[E6T] Studied medicine to avoid conscription, and graduated in 1855.[E6T] Some of his pupils included Taneyev, Ziloti, and Emil Sauer; he taught harmony to Tchaikovsky who later composed the Piano Trio in A minor in his memory.[E6T] Brother of Anton Rubinstein.[E6T] Place of birth: Moscow[E6T] Place of death: Paris[E6T] |
