Biographical
A yeoman, and owner of Wuthering Heights, Mr Earnshaw is the kind, but
strict father of Hindley
and Catherine.
He finds an orphan at Liverpool and names him Heathcliff.
After inexplicably bringing him home to Wuthering Heights
in September 1771,
and making him part of the family, Mr Earnshaw begins favouring this new
foster son, and from then on, the family begins to deteriorate. After
his death in October 1777, Hindley becomes master of Wuthering Heights.
