Margaret Tudor was first married to James IV in 1503, forming a crucial alliance between England and Scotland. In 1514, she married Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus, in a union that caused political upheaval and led to her removal from the regency. Her marriage to Angus created divisions within the Scottish court and diminished her political influence.
