The Great Wall of China, spanning over 13,000 miles across northern
China, stands as one of the most renowned and impressive feats of
human engineering in history. Originally built over centuries to defend
against invasions, the wall, in reality, offered little security,
and scholars believe that its real purpose was to serve as political
propaganda. Despite this, it continues to symbolise China's rich cultural
heritage and resilience, and in 2007, it was recognised as one of
the New Seven Wonders of the World. It also appeared on the list of
Seven Wonders of the Middles Ages.
