Three huntsmen in scarlet
coats gather inside an inn after the chase, animatedly recounting
the moment of the hunt while an older gentleman raises a glass in
amusement as hounds wander in at the doorway. The title of the
painting alludes to the hunting term for the moment when the fox has
finally been driven to ground, ending the pursuit, while the riders
relive the episode over drink. |
