|
From a multi-text
Anglo-Saxon manuscript combining the Winchcombe Chronicle
with computistical treatises by Bede and others, folio 30r features
the four primary winds, Septentrio, Subsolanus, Auster, and
Zephyrus, and eight collateral winds, all personified, blowing
towards a central hub labelled with the names of the continents
Africa, Asia, and Europe, illustrating the classical meteorological
system. |
