Monument to Álvaro Obregón. Right Flank
Granite (sculpture), by Ignacio Asúnsolo, 1935
Parque de la Bombilla, San Ángel, Mexico City

The right flank of the monument bears a relief titled 'The Allegory of Sacrifice' (El Sacrificio). This work refers not only to Obregón's assassination but also to the revolutionary narrative promoted by his supporters. His death is presented as the ultimate sacrifice for the revolutionary cause and the redemption of Mexico's workers and peasants.
