| Asterope
(2)
Other names: Hesperia (2) Biographical According to Apollodorus, Asterope, a Naiad, died young, and her husband was turned into a bird during his grief. Ovid calls her Hesperia, and tells us that she stirred love in Aesacus, but while he was chasing after her one day, she was bitten by a viper and died, and in his grief, he threw himself into the sea. Daughter of Cebren, she married Aesacus. |
