James
(2) the Apostle
(1st century AD)
Biographical
One of the twelve apostles, James was the son of Alphaeus
(2). Matthew 10:3 mentions a 'James the son of Alphaeus',
as does Acts 1:13.
It is generally accepted that he is James
the Less,
despite the lack of evidence to support
this. There is also insufficient evidence to identify him with Jesus'
brother, James. James, son of Alphaeus, was possibly related to Matthew
and Thaddaeus.
