Refused to enrol at the École des Beaux-Arts, and instead, worked at the
Académie Suisse where he became acquainted with Camille Pissarro.[J92]
Served in Algeria, 1862-62.[J92]
Continued to study in Paris in 1862, becoming acquainted with Bazille,
Sisley, and Renoir.[J92]
Travelled and worked in London and the Netherlands, 1870, and then stayed in
Argenteuil on his return.[J92]
Settled in Giverny, 1883.[J92]
He slowly achieved critical acclaim, and was to become one of the most
significant and popular modern artists.[J92]
