Eduard Jaëll
(1793-1849)


Biographical

A distinguished Austrian violinist residing in Vienna, he was a member of the Theaters an der Wien orchestra. Schubert's first work was published in an academy that Jaëll had established. He toured in Austria and in Florence. From 1830, he moved to Trieste where he taught violin, cello and piano. By 1844, he returned to Vienna, and then settled in Brussels in 1847. His son was the pianist Alfred Jaëll.[1]
