A renowned concert pianist, Joaquín Soriano began his musical studies
in Valencia before continuing at the Paris Conservatoire under Vlado Perlemuter
and later in Vienna with Alfred Brendel. He won major international competitions
in Italy and Spain, launching a distinguished career as a concert pianist,
performing with many of the world’s leading orchestras. A renowned
pianist, he founded the Madrid Trio in 1978 and has given recitals in
prestigious concert halls and international festivals, including Granada,
Santander, Menton, Montpellier, Saintes, and Brisbane. His recordings
feature works by Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla,
Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert, and Frédéric Chopin, as well
as the complete Schubert-Liszt Soirées de Vienne, Joaquín
Turina’s complete chamber works with piano, and Falla’s Rapsodia
sinfónica. With the English Chamber Orchestra, he recorded
Falla’s Noches en los jardines de España and Concerto
for Harpsichord. A Professor of Piano at the Royal Conservatory of
Music in Madrid, he has given masterclasses at prestigious institutions
across Europe, the United States, Asia, and Australia and frequently serves
as a jury member for major international competitions. A tireless advocate
for Spanish music worldwide, he has received numerous accolades and honours.
He married María del Pilar González de Gregorio in 2000
(divorced).
