González de Gregorio

The González de Gregorios were one of the noble and hidalgo families of the city of Soria, which formed part of a group known as 'the Twelve Lineages'. This group was entrusted with the defence and governance of the city. As part of this arrangement, twelve perpetual councillors were proposed to the Monarch, who would appoint one from each of these families. The families themselves were made up of descendants from one of the twelve ancient houses, to which the husbands of the women from these families, as well as their successors, could be incorporated, provided they could prove their nobility or hidalguía with legal documents and proof of possession, along with the appropriate certification from the lineage they sought to join. This process was overseen by the corregidor knight, the military captain of Soria. Additionally, these families had the privilege of naming deputies to the General Courts of the Kingdom and overseeing the administration and patronage of the House for abandoned children in the city.
