González de Gregorio
(–1938)
Biographical
Knight of the Order of Montesa 1920
A law graduate, Aurelio played a significant role in the events surrounding
the national uprising and the early years of the Civil War. Following
the proclamation of the Second Republic, he participated in resistance
efforts against the government. With the rise of the Popular Front to
power, he became involved in violent activities, leading to the persecution,
arrest, and imprisonment of those implicated. In 1936, Aurelio emerged
as a prominent figure among the Carlists, engaging in extreme measures
such as conspiracies and arms smuggling operations. He served as the national
leader of the Carlist youth, president of the Traditionalist Youth of
Madrid, and Provincial Chief of Toledo. Notably, he participated in the
liberation of the Alcázar of Toledo. Aurelio eventually fled to
Portugal, where he continued to conspire with the Carlists to further
the uprising, although he later returned to Spain. In 1938, during a charity
bullfight, a bull leapt into the crowd and gored him. He died from his
injuries shortly after.
