Portrait of Anthony Reyniers and His Family
Oil on canvas, 170.2 × 245.1 cm, by Cornelis de Vos (I), 1631
Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Reyniers family, identified by a folded letter on the table addressed to Anton Reyniers. Two sons stand beside their father, while three daughters are with their mother, with the background featuring a portrait of their elderly grandparents. De Vos, captures the family's affluence through their elaborate attire and the luxurious setting, including an Oriental carpet and leather coverings, while also highlighting a personal detail with the subtle depiction of a defect in the left eye of Reyniers's wife, Maria Le Vitter.
