Rodrigo’s father granted him extensive property in Cáceres, including the Dehesijo and lands of the Arguijuelo, but a dispute with his uncle Francisco led to an arbitration in 1490 that awarded Francisco the Arguijuelo and half of the Dehesijo, while Rodrigo received lands at Los Seguros and Solanos. Rodrigo subsequently acquired further property at Los Seguros, alongside members of the Ovando Saavedra and Ovando Perero branches. In 1492, Rodrigo and his relatives were forbidden from gathering supporters or forming political factions in Cáceres, under threat of exile and a fine. He and his son Gutierre founded a mayorazgo in 1520. His drew up his will on 13 August 1530.
