Pedro pursued a military career in 1829, spending most of his life in active service during the conflicts of the nineteenth century. He took part in the pursuit of the Carlist bands that roamed the mountains of Toledo until their complete defeat, and later joined the Army of Operations of the North, participating in the action at Sangüesa, where he distinguished himself through his bravery and composure, and in the action at Navardún, where he was wounded in the right arm and taken prisoner before being exchanged at Pamplona. He later participated in the capture of the entrenchments of Medianas, the battle of Borsedo, the defence of Zaragoza, and the siege and capture of Peñacerrada in 1838. Following the end of the conflict, Pedro continued taking part in military operations in the Maestrazgo and the capture of Morella, before serving in campaigns in Catalonia and Aragon. In 1847, he took part in the expedition to Portugal. He later travelled abroad on leave, remaining there until shortly before his death.
