María de Quirós
(c. 1470–)

Biographical

María was betrothed to Gonzalo de Ciaño when they were children. After the death of her father, she broke off the arrangement and refused to marry him. Gonzalo took the matter to the Church, which threatened her with excommunication if she did not marry him. In the meantime, she married Suero de Caso. Gonzalo pursued the matter and appealed to the Catholic Monarchs, but appears to have been ultimately unsuccessful.

Daughter of Martín de Quirós
and Juana González, she was married to Suero de Caso (his second wife)
