It is not known why Lope's line inherited his father's lordship of Valdecarzana. He may have been Gonzalo's eldest son, or Gonzalo may have bequeathed it to him instead of to the older Juan, as there was no entailed estate in the family, though that would have been unusual. His will was dated 20 May 1406.

Son of Gonzalo Bernaldo de Quirós and Mencía de Nava, he was married after 1380 to María Gómez (Fernández de Toledo), with issue:
• Pedro, he held the encomiendas of Quirós, Teverga and others before 1314, which passed to his uncle

Lope also had illegitimate issue by María Alfonso:
• García González de Quirós, legitimised 1397
