Count Bernaldo Jiménez
Biographical In 1377, Gutierre González de Quirós and his brother Lope presented a letter of claim to Enrique II of Castile, explaining that their ancestor, Count Bernaldo Jiménez, was the holder of the Castle of Luna. After his death, it passed to his son Suero, whose possession King Alfonso VII exchanged for those of Proaza, Teverga, Buango and Alba de Quirós. The latter were inherited by his descendants and, although later given by the king to the Church of Oviedo, remained entrusted to the Quirós family until Gonzalo Bernaldo, the father of Gutiérrez and Lope.
