Son of Alfonso de Lencastre and Violante Henriques, he never married but had illegitimate issue:
• João, a friar of the Hermits of Saint Augustine and a theologian and provincial; he was disloyal to the Crown and suffered some hardships as a result
• Maria, a nun in Madrid
