Comendadeira of the Monastery of Santos of the Order of Santiago 1542–>78

Helena succeeded her grandmother, Ana de Mendonça, as comendadeira in 1542. For reasons unknown, however, she appointed her brother Jayme as her attorney, thereby granting him possession of the monastery in 1548. By 1549, Helena is again recorded as comendadeira. She was also a proposed bride for the Infante Luís of Portugal.
