A television, film, and theatre actress; singer, and television presenter.[T19S]
She began work in fotonovelas in 1966, and achieved international fame through her work in soap operas, and was dubbed 'queen of the telenovelas'.[T19S]
Daughter of Fausto Sáinz Astol and Socorro Castro Alba; sister of Beatriz, José Alberto (television producer who was married to Angélica Rivera), and Fausto Gerardo.[L88L]
She had a son with the actor Manuel 'El Loco' Valdés[T19S] (brother of the actors 'Tin Tan', Antonio and Ramón), the singer Cristian Castro (*1974), and another son by Enrique Niembro, named Michel.[T19S]
Awarded an honorary Emmy in 2005 for contribution to Spanish language television in the United States.[T19S]
