Sabia, Sabbia, Sabea

The family, it is said, was established in Sicily by Gerard Sabia who transferred there under King Alfonso. He was said to be the son of a Norman baron, Robert Sabi, who was seneschal to King Charles VII. Gerard was rewarded by King Alfonso for his military service and was made governor of Nicosia. His descendants lived in Polizzi, Palermo and in other Sicilian cities.
