Brian Templar Barton
(1889–1917)


Biographical

Barton began training as a surveyor and grazier before enlisting in the army in 1914, joining the Light Horse. He joined the 6th Light Horse in Egypt. He fell sick in 1915 while on his way to Gallipoli and was returned to Australia at the end of the year. Barton was abroad again in 1916 with the 2nd Light Horse at Tel el Kebir and soon transferred back to the 6th Light Horse. He served in Palestine and was killed in action. The King's School in North Parramatta, which he had attended, awards the Brian Barton Cup for football.
