Agosti

The ancient and noble Agosti family (which was also called Agosta, and in Latin de Augustis) was from the city of Bergamo, Italy. One of its branches settled in Cremona as early as the 13th century and recognised as its progenitor Orfeo, who emigrated from his homeland due to civil and fatal discord. In Cremona, the family acquired land, expanded significantly, and was integrated into the patrician order. From this branch descended the Agosti who flourished in the villa of Romanengo, and one of them commendably served the parish. Another branch moved to Casalmaggiore in the 15th century and became more commonly known as Agosta. However, both the Cremona and Casalmaggiore branches became extinct in the 18th century.
