| Andrea
de Malta
Count of Malta
(-c1300)
Biographical
Charles of Anjou confirmed Andrea as Count of Malta (along with rights
to other property), and the right of his heirs in perpetuity in 1290.
Andrea then switched his allegiance to King Jaime of Aragon who confirmed
his claim to Malta in 1292. Charles of Anjou retaliated by depriving him
of his rights and conferred them on Ruggiero de Lauria. This began a century
of simultaneous appointments to the county of Malta between Aragon and
Anjou.[4] |
