Caterina Cavalieri, an Austrian soprano born in Vienna in 1755, had a
successful career during the late 18th century, notably renowned for her
performances in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's operas. Mozart composed
specific roles for her, such as Konstanze in 'The Abduction from the
Seraglio', where her exceptional vocal abilities shone. She also
appeared in other Mozart operas, such as 'The Marriage of Figaro' and
'The Clemency of Titus'. Despite her professional success, Cavalieri
faced personal challenges, including financial difficulties and the loss
of her husband, leading to her eventual retirement from the stage.
