| Tomasi
and Tomasi di Lampedusa It was claimed that this family descended from the Byzantine imperial guard Thomas 'the Leopard' through a son who moved to Ancona, Italy. Descendants of the Tomasi of Ancona eventually settled in Tuscany in the 12th century. Later, a Ludovico Tomasi moved to Naples and his descendants settled at Capua. An offshoot of this branch was eventually established in Sicily.[T60] |
