Hortense Mancini
Oil on canvas, 73.6 x 56.7 cm, by
Jacob Ferdinand Voet (1639–c. 1700)
Location unknown

The portrait of Hortense captures her in a half-length pose, dressed in a striking blue gown adorned with a diamond brooch encircled by pearls. This depiction, set against a softly painted  landscape, is part of a series that once graced the Galleria delle Belle in Palazzo Chigi. Voet’s style, characteristic of the late 17th century, blends naturalism with the formal elegance typical of Baroque portraiture.
