Biographical

Forced to surrender Candia during its siege by the Ottomans, 1667, he was made to stand trial but was acquitted.[M3BX]
Victorious against the Ottomans in Morea and Athens, 1687, he laid the Parthenon to ruins with a single cannon ball (it was being used as a powder magazine by the Ottomans) and looted sculptures including the two lions which are still standing at the door of the Venetian Arsenal today.[M3BX]
Granted the title of 'Peloponnesiacus', 1684.[J92]
