Familiar of the Inquisition

Nicolás proved his 'limpieza de sangre' (purity of blood) at a young age to become a familiar of the Inquisition. He received the position of regidor perpetuo of Cazalla as part of his wife’s dowry, a position held by her father. The position of alcalde mayor of Seville, in effect private property, was purchased by his father for his son in 1655.
