Miguel de Toledo Golfín
(1734–1804)

Biographical

Alcalde mayor of Seville 1765–92

A veinticuatro of Seville 1765–92

After his father's death, Miguel entered into a dispute with his siblings over the family inheritance, which the court ruled in his favour in 1775. His son Rafael later opposed his appointment as alcalde mayor of Seville and replaced him in 1792. Miguel was not of sound mental health, and in 1769 his wife was granted control of the family's mayorazgo. Many of his assets and properties were in poor condition, and by the beginning of the 19th century, the family's fortunes had begun to decline.
