Abbess of the Convent de la Anunciada (1581–1631) Biographical Abbess of the Convent de la Anunciada 1606–31† María became a nun, assuming the name María de la Anunciada and entering the Monastery of the Concepción de Villafranca. Her father built the Convent of the Anunciada for her, and she was its first abbess. Daughter of Pedro Álvarez de Toledo and Elvira de Mendoza. |
