Ricohombre Along with his brother Fernando, García was in the service of Pedro I at Tejadillo from the late 1340s at a young age. By 1358, he was awarded properties in Plasencia by the king. He then took part in the king's maritime expedition against Barcelona. His service to the king enabled him to advance to higher ranks, and he began to receive significant appointments. He participated in several military engagements, including the conflicts with Aragon in the 1360s, and the Battle of Linuesa against the Moors of Granada in 1361. After King Enrique II defeated his brother Pedro I and took the throne of Castile, García was forced to surrender Logroño and renounce his position as Master of the Order of Santiago, as part of the agreement reached. He and his brothers were compensated, and he also received the lordships of Oropesa and Valdecorneja. Now allied to the new king, he served him in various military roles, including participating in the Battle of Nájera in 1367, where he was captured, and the Battle of Montiel in 1369. The king rewarded him generously for his services, with further grants of land, appointments, and, additionally, by legitimising his children in 1369. He died from wounds sustained in the war against Portugal.
