4th Señor de Oropesa (–1462) Biographical 4th Señor de Oropesa 1444–62† 4th Señor de Tornavacas 1444–62† 4th Señor de Jarandilla 1444–62† Señor del Castillo de Malagón After the death of his first wife, Fernando married Leonor de Estúñiga, daughter of his former rival, the Count of Plasencia, in an attempt to secure a reconciliation with the powerful Zúñiga family. This strategic union, which included a substantial dowry, aimed to mend relations with the neighbouring family, though it proved short-lived and ultimately not in the long-term interest of the Álvarez de Toledo family in their lands of Jarandilla. Throughout his life, Fernán remained a loyal servant of the Crown, following his father's political path as a steadfast supporter of Álvaro de Luna and the alliance of noble families, including the Counts of Alba, the Silvas of Toledo, and the Cifuentes family. His loyalty was demonstrated by his participation in the Battle of Olmedo in 1445, where he fought for King Juan II and Álvaro de Luna, maintaining his allegiance to both the king and his successor, Henry IV.
