| Jean-Baptiste Vérité (1756–1837) | ||||||||||
| Born in Paris, Vérité was an engraver, etcher, pastellist, and publisher known for his engravings of portraits and historical subjects and events. He was particularly recognised for his mastery of stipple engraving, especially in colour. His prolific work reflects the political fervour of Revolutionary France, often depicting deputies and public figures with a strong sense of character and detail. Vérité is also noted for his pastel portraits. In his later years, he lived in Bessancourt, Val-d'Oise, where he died. | ||||||||||
