Frascuelo (Salvador Sánchez Povedano, 1842–98), one of the most
renowned bullfighters of the 19th century, was celebrated for his
elegant and daring style, mastering the art of bullfighting with a
unique blend of grace and precision. His performances were marked
by a commanding presence in the ring, earning him a prominent place
in the history of Spanish bullfighting. Alongside him, El Gordito
(Antonio Carmona, 1838–1920), who was a respected figure in
the bullfighting world, made his mark with a fearless and robust approach
to the sport, and was known for his execution of the suerte de
banderillas, which involves the use of barbed sticks to provoke
the bull. Both bullfighters demonstrated their skill at the San Sebastián
Bullring in Madrid, a key venue in the history of Spanish bullfighting. |
