Giovanni Antonio Maria Panealbo (c. 1742–1815)

Born in Turin, Panealbo was an Italian portrait artist active from 1772 to 1799. He was initially trained in Turin by Claudio Francesco Beaumont, and later continued his studies under Pompeo Batoni in Rome. By 1779, he was appointed court painter to the House of Savoy, becoming the leading portraitist at the Turin court and creating many royal family portraits. His work reflects Batoni's influence, characterised by a refined neoclassical style and a mastery of formal royal portraiture. Panealbo died in Turin.
