| Hendrik Leffert Meyling (1757–1821) | ||||||||||
| Meyling, also written as Meijling or Mijling, was a Dutch engraver, printmaker, book illustrator, and draughtsman born in Amsterdam, where he began his career in 1777, creating finely executed burin engravings, detailed book illustrations, and cityscapes that reflected both architectural precision and artistic restraint. He was active in Amsterdam for much of his early career, producing works that included his own compositions as well as engravings after other artists, earning praise from the artist Christiaan Kramm for the careful execution and fine quality of his prints. In 1801, Meyling moved to Groningen, where he continued to work until his death on April 14, 1821, maintaining a style marked by technical discipline, clarity of line, and the qualities that define the Dutch engraving tradition. | ||||||||||
