| Auguste de Creuse (1806–1839) | ||||||||||
| A French painter and lithographer, Creuse was born at Montrond. He studied under Antoine-Jean Gros and painted many of the historical portraits now at Versailles. Later, he focused primarily on portrait painting and began exhibiting his works at the Salon in Paris in 1833, where he was awarded a second-class medal in 1835. His subjects included members of the Orléans family, figures from the Grand Siècle, and medieval and Renaissance monarchs. Creuse died in Paris. | ||||||||||
