Medal commemorating the capitulation of the Netherlands under General Winkelman

Marking the surrender of the Netherlands to Nazi Germany on 15 May 1940, signed by General Winkelman after four days of intense fighting, this rectangular medal featuring bevelled edges and a triangular extension at the top centre, pierced for suspension. The obverse presents a shallow relief composition: centrally, a right-facing profile portrait identified as Winkelman, beneath which an inscription appears. Additional inscriptions are positioned above the portrait. To the left, artillery is depicted within a landscape setting; to the right, a naval vessel is shown at sea with three aircraft in flight above. The reverse is unadorned, bearing only a stamped letter 'A'.
