The Wacky Races Board Game
John Sands Australian edition, 1968

Distinct from the later 1969 U.S. edition, John Sands released The Wacky Races board game in Australia in 1968, featuring countryside artwork and 16 cardboard vehicles in plastic stands. It brought Hanna-Barbera’s zany cartoon racers to life on a colourful countryside track. Players rolled dice to manoeuvre vehicles, dodging traps set by Dick Dastardly, which typically caused a lost turn and sent rivals back to the start when landing on their space. The game included 16 cardboard vehicle pawns, a vibrant board, and plenty of chaotic fun for 2–4 players aged 7 to 15 (though invariably, older).
