An inuksuit at Churchill in Manitoba, Canada. Such stone markers served as vital guides for Inuit communities across the Arctic, indicating routes, hunting grounds, and places of gathering essential to life in the northern environment. Many of the examples at Churchill were built by the Thula Dene and Caribou Inuit, for whom these structures held practical purpose alongside shared social meaning.
