|
Also known as the Rider (or Horseman) of Grumentum, the piece was
probably imported by Corinthian colonists into Southern Italy. It
was previously stated to have been excavated in Grumentum, Basilicata,
but the location was more likely Armento. The soldier, wearing a
Corinthian-style helmet and tunic, and the horse are both separately modelled
and detachable. The spear and reins he held are lost. |
