The Bulong people dwell in the Guiyang region, in places such as Guangshun and Xingyi. On the first day of the tenth lunar month, they celebrate a major festival where men and women strike bronze drums in celebration. During mourning, relatives and filial sons abstain from meat and only eat fish and shrimp. In sacrificial rites, fish and other meats must be used and placed in baskets with grass supports. One year after the burial, they exhume and burn the remains. Their nature is said to be fierce and resolute; they go about armed with sharp blades, and even over slight matters, according to their custom, they will seek revenge. |
