| The burgomaster, now identified as Henrik Scroots (or Schroots), who died in 1629, is depicted in a stance with his right hand resting on the hilt of a sword and his left on a table. He wears a black outfit adorned with a white lace ruff and cuffs. The background shows a room with a green curtain draped on the left, and a crest is positioned in the upper right corner. This painting is a companion to Portrait of a Burgomaster's wife. |
